Founded in Barcelona in 2011, Lucent is a deliberately small practice. The principal architect leads every project from brief to handover, so the thinking that shapes the first sketch carries all the way through to the last detail on site.
We work slowly and carefully, on a limited number of projects at a time. That focus is the point. It is how the work stays considered, and how the relationship with each client stays direct, not filtered through layers of process.
Every project begins with reading the site and the brief honestly, then deciding what the new work should add, contrast or preserve. Nothing is drawn before the questions have been asked properly.

Principal involvement is a defining feature of the practice. The founder remains the primary point of contact and lead designer on every project the studio accepts.

Fees are agreed in writing at the outset of every engagement, with clear scope and stage definitions. There are no hidden charges at any stage of the project.

Our design process begins with rigorous research into site, brief, climate, materials and precedent. Design proposals are developed only once the project is thoroughly understood.
